Generic Performance Test Days
The Human Performance Unit provides
performance testing for schools with PE and Sport Gifted
and Talented pupils (years 7-11). Our Generic
Performance Test days provide aspiring athletes with an
experience of detailed sport science fitness tests,
individually assessed feedback of strengths and
weaknesses, as well as a taster for sport science and a
university.
Generic Performance Test days have the capacity for
15-30 pupils per day. The cost per pupil is £20.00 which
includes performance test day and performance portfolio.
The fitness assessments are detailed below:
Anthropometric measures
Aerobic Capacity
Explosive Power
Speed
Agility
Anaerobic Power
Balance
Flexibility
Strength
Strength Endurance
Individual test results will be fed back as an
Individual Performance Portfolio which details results,
scores and a sport specific comments.
Scores are given on a scale of 1-5 (1 = low, 5 =
excellent) based on HPU Generic Test Day age group and
gender results.

agility, balance, flexibility and strength
I have been extremely pleased with the services
provided by the HPU at Essex University in supporting
our gifted and talented programme. The testing day is
extremely well organised and the feedback provided is
particularly useful for pupils to see what their current
athletic strengths and weaknesses are
