The HPU provides opportunities for college and sixth
form students to apply their sport science knowledge in
a practical laboratory environment. The aim of the sessions is
for students to have the chance to link their
theoretical knowledge to current practical test
procedures regularly conducted in sport science
laboratories.
The sessions accommodate group levels of
understanding and requirements of a diverse range of
curriculums. Each session includes an introduction and
general overview of the topic area followed by
opportunities for pupils to conduct and take part as
subjects in sport science tests. The session take place
under the close supervision of a sport scientist, in a
safe lab environment.

‘The college sport’s department find the HPU teaching
sessions a powerful academic learning tool for our 2nd
year students, it also allows the student to understand
what is required to achieve success at the performance
end of competition and gives them an insight into
possible areas of university study which may enhance
their future careers.
